January 1, 2023 marked the tenth anniversary of the effective date of Michigan’s business court statute. Mich. Comp. L. 600.8031 et seq. This month, the Michigan Bar Journal published an article highlighting the business courts’ successful decade. Specifically, the article—co-authored by Ian Williamson and yours truly with assistance from Matt Rose—discusses the history of Michigan’s business court system, the state business court statute and its application, the business courts’ positive impact on litigation generally, and predictions for the future of business courts in Michigan.
