As previously posted here, a bill was put forward proposing statewide commerce courts be established in Pennsylvania’s trial courts, and in one of its mid-level appellate courts (the Superior Court).
On May 1, 2019, the bill was amended to include the following language concerning the proposed appellate level commerce court: “(C) JURISDICTION.–NOTHING UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL BE CONSTRUED TO AFFECT THE JURISDICTION OF AN APPELLATE COURT AS PROVIDED BY LAW OTHER THAN THIS SECTION.” The text of amended House Bill 332 can be found here.
On May 6, 2019, the bill passed in Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives.
The bill now goes on to Pennsylvania’s Senate. [Update: The bill was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 17, 2019.]
